Contributing to Social Innovation MSc summer school!

More than 50 participants from 7 European countries, 19 lecturers, a six-day programme, more than 22 hours of courses, labs and case studies, 1 day study visit and a guided visit to the city center: these are some of the numbers of our successful summer school, that was held from August 28th to September 2nd in Belgrade. The summer school was an opportunity to test the Master’s programme we have been planning for the past few months.

Caius, through its CEO, Giorgos Mendrinos, was there with research team “DAISSy” of the Hellenic Open University to offer its expertise on how we can use artificial intelligence to automate data analysis and discovery processes, to identify social needs and then strengthen and back up with data our proposals to address them.

To achieve this, Caius created a simulation of living conditions in urban centers through real-time scenarios, and then the participants were able to process this data with AI and draw conclusions, and then, using AI again, to create and consolidate their own solutions for green development. The results were astounding, with each group coming up with original and completely different solutions, either related to the workplace, living space or even altering the mindset of city dwellers with simple and realistic changes.

The TESI project aims to create a Joint Master Programme (JM) on Social Innovation in collaboration with 6 universities and 1 research center across 6 Adrion Countries (Italy, Croatia, Greece, Albania, Serbia, and Slovenia). The project's objectives are to enhance competences in social innovation, focusing on contemporary challenges, and establish a network of institutions to develop and implement the JM.

This summer school was essentially a test drive for the MSc on social innovation. We saw in practice how participatory design is applied in social innovation projects with participants from all scientific and professional sectors joining forces!
