The Greentech Challenge 2024 marked a record-breaking year with 215 submissions, including 42 startups, 145 innovation idea holders, and 28 researchers. From these, 34 teams advanced to the competition phase, held from December 13–15, in a three-day event showcasing groundbreaking green innovation. With great enthusiasm, the Caius team participated as mentors, supporting a talented research team and their idea for INSECT-Rep, a novel, plant-based insect repellent combining one organic compound and two essential oils.
Throughout the competition, Caius helped INSECT-Rep craft a groundbreaking product, refine their pitch presentation, optimize their business plan and revenue streams, and establish a robust long-term strategy. Their mentorship empowered the team to excel in the highly competitive researchers’ category, which featured mature ideas. Yiannis and Anastasia, a PhD candidate and Postgraduate researcher, respectively, successfully distinguished themselves, earning 3rd place in the national competition’s grand finale — a testament to their hard work and the value of collaboration!
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yiannis, Anastasia, and the entire INSECT-Rep team as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey! Caius remains committed to fostering innovation and supporting startups, empowering the next generation of changemakers through initiatives like the Greentech Challenge. We also applaud the National Technical University of Athens, Mantis Beyond Innovation, and all contributors to this outstanding event for their exceptional organization and the opportunities they provide to young professionals and entrepreneurs. Such initiatives inspire creativity, drive sustainable innovation, and pave the way for a brighter, greener future!
