Our team had the opportunity to participate in a recent ESA invitation, during which we analyzed extensive satellite data via AI to visualize the impact of global forest destruction on climate change. The image tells us a lot about the last decade; the yellow circle depicts areas experiencing extreme warming, leading to ecosystem destruction, while the blue circle shows areas flooded due to more intense storms. The tree in the centre represents the vast forests that have been lost, setting records for the last few centuries. So with a single image it is shown that the areas where forests were destroyed are almost always linked to the other two phenomena. Ensuring accessibility for all by using colours that are friendly to those with colour blindness, viewers immediately understand their connection. It is hoped that this approach will accelerate acceptance of the problem so that, through this awareness, we are able to move forward with actions that will lead to a solution.
