Decauville trail: Where tradition meets innovation with druiter

On the weekend of September 27-28, we had the joy of celebrating in Kilkis the 50 years of the European Trail E6 and the 30 years of its Greek section by walking the historic Decauville Trail together with Trace Your Eco! The two-day event brought hikers and nature lovers to the beautiful Axioupoli area, where the trail crosses with the E6 and showcases both history and nature. The route ended in the village of Pigi, where local associations offered a warm cultural welcome with presentations, dances, and traditional treats.

Caius joined the celebration by presenting and testing its new rural exploration app, druiter. The Decauville Trail was the perfect place to introduce it to the public, giving hikers the chance to share their experiences and discover new ways of creating their own personalized routes through AI! By doing so, we confirmed in practice that Druiter is designed as an easy-to-use tool for local communities and associations, helping them showcase their work on trails, villages, and cultural heritage to a wider audience in an accessible and engaging way!

We would like to warmly thank the Regional Unit of Kilkis, the Municipality of Paionia, and the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering & Climbing (EOOA) for their support, as well as the Cultural Associations of Paionia and Polykastro, together with all the volunteers and invited speakers, for their invaluable contribution in creating an experience that combined nature, history, and culture. And of course, special thanks to Trace Your Eco for the overall organization and guidance throughout this celebration!
