Caius mentors Cyprus national team and they won 1st place in Europe!

One of the most amazing journeys was completed in Cyprus with the best reward at the end. The team that represented Cyprus, which we at Caius had the pleasure and honour to guide from close by in the Cassini Hackathon Space Innovation Competition, managed to win the 1st place in Europe out of 10 countries! We feel very lucky that we have now won three international space technology and entrepreneurship competitions (twice as competitors and the other as team mentors), but also convinced now that we can achieve great, international technological achievements without having to leave our country! Greece and Cyprus together proved that space and artificial intelligence are our strengths after all!

The local contest in Cyprus!

During the 24-26th of March the preliminary round of the constest has taken place in 10 European countries simultaneously.

From 24-26 March participants from ten different locations across Europe brought their brilliant ideas forward as they competed in using EU space technologies to develop solutions that contribute to a safe and secure Europe. At the end of the hackathon weekend, there were over 900 registrants and 90 projects submitted. Caius held mentoring sessions for those interested in participating in the competition from Cyprus, with topics such as pitching and business plan skills and proper use of Copernicus and Galileo open data. The solutions were then rapidly developed during 24-26 March in Cyprus, where Caius was also in person to help the teams' transition from research idea to product both on a business and scientific level.

The final presentations on Sunday were very good with a very high level of maturity, as acknowledged by the judges who nominated Hiris Guider as the winning team for Cyprus. This team had time from Sunday until Thursday evening to refine their idea and presentation with Caius members guiding them throughout those days. In the final presentation out of 10 countries they scored the highest score bringing the title to Cyprus for the first time.
