7th GreekTrail Conference

The Greek Trails Conference took place in Chania from November 15-17, 2024, bringing together stakeholders, experts, and enthusiasts from across Greece and Europe. Representatives from the World Trails Network, European Trails Network, and newly established Greek Hiking Federation joined regional and local government officials, hiking clubs, tourism agencies, and environmental organizations to discuss the future of trails. This vibrant three-day event included engaging presentations, knowledge exchanges, cultural activities, and on-site visits to the Chania Trails. The conference celebrated the vital role trails play in preserving and connecting Greece’s natural and cultural heritage!

Caius, a proud annual participant, once again captured the audience’s attention with its innovative solutions for trail mapping and promotion. Caius highlighted its contributions to supporting municipalities, regional governments, and local associations in creating and maintaining hiking networks efficiently using AI and satellite data. The company also showcased its work to date, presenting a comprehensive plan to promote and organize hiking tourism across Greece through a state-of-the-art solution that respects and enhances local traditions. Representing both Caius and our roots in Metsovo, we worked to foster new collaborations across Greece and Europe, emphasizing our commitment to empowering communities through technology!

The conference left a lasting impression with its blend of dialogue, exploration, and cultural immersion. Caius joined field hikes on the Chania Trails, gaining firsthand insight into how our solutions can benefit regions like Crete. We saw how hiking revitalizes forgotten villages, supports local businesses, and highlights unique local products. As the event concluded, we were inspired to continue innovating, collaborating, and supporting the unique blend of tradition and progress that defines Greece’s trails. We look forward to the next Greek Trails Conference in Kastoria!
